Howling sound from engine bay

It's just loud and it doesn't sound like it's coming from the bypass valve.

I hear a howling sound coming from the blower when my car is in vacuum, but not when the car is idling or when I'm at 0 or more boost pressure. I can hear it when I'm cruising down the road at any MPH at like 5-15 IN of vacuum. But like I said not at idle and not in boost.

I just got the belts to stop squealing yesterday. And now I here this pretty well while I am going down the road.

If anybody has any tips or suggestions on what it might be and/or how I can fix it, please tell me.

It's probably the bypass valve "whistling". This "whistling" is caused when the bypass valve is not quite closed. While at idle the bypass valve is wide open and while in boost the bypass valve is fully closed. I get the "whistling" to between 5-15 degrees of vacuum.

Well the problems just seem to get worse and worse every time I drive it. the "Howling" is getting worse than before and now my belts squeal and are really loud. I know the Howling is not the bypass valve because it is just to loud. I don't know if there is something wrong with the blower or if it is just an idler pulley. Any body else with any suggestions?

ya'know, it could just be an idler pulley....bearing wore out prematurely in it or something?! Could be one loose, who knows....

Mike, i think i still have my OE idler pullies up there at mom and dads house. Theyre the aluminum ones, they got big groves in them, but if worse comes to worse, you can have them. You could put mine on, see if it makes a difference, if it doesnt, you just eliminated one possible cause.

I think you may be right about the idler pulley being bad on it. Tony, I have the aluminum idler pulley that the guy gave to me with the kit, I just don't want to put it on because I don't feel like replacing it in a few months. I'll probly order one from jackson or Jim on tuesday. I will try it and hopefully the problem will be fixed.
